Yoshihiro Makino was born and raised in Tokyo, where the urban environment and eclectic culture both informed and inspired his photography. Currently residing in Los Angeles, his work takes him around the world capturing interiors and portraits for a vast array of editorial, private, and commercial clients.

Known for clean and evocative imagery, his clients range from fashion and lifestyle brands such as Asics, TEVA, and The Conran Shop to companies like Warner Brothers, Subaru, Getty Images, Bridgestone, and Japan Airlines among many others. He shoots for numerous magazines including W, GQ Japan, Madame Figaro Japon, and Elle Decor Japan.

He co-produced the architecture and interiors book Lifecycling, which chronicles the lifestyles of creatives living in both Los Angeles and Tokyo, and considers the bilingual book a touchstone in his life’s work. He also collaborated with the fashion brand Untitled on their 20th year anniversary book capturing untitled works of art in the Whitney Museum of American Art, MOMA, Gagosian Gallery, MOCA, and the Centre Pompidou.

It is continually his great honor to work on projects with some of the world's leading designers, artists, and architects. When not shooting, he can be found at home in Pasadena, with his fashion designer wife and a white pet pigeon called Pyululu.
